“Silviu completed his PhD degree in Tyndall National Institute, for which he performed theoretical investigation of electronic and optical properties properties of III-As and III-P alloys for metamorphic telecom laser and red light-emitting diode applications.
As a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Photonics Theory Group in Tyndall National Institute his research project is focused on theoretical investigation of electronic and optical properties of SiGeSn-based materials and alloys, and analysing the potential of using SiGeSn-based devices as efficient light sources.
His expertise has a significant contribution to the research in photonics. He is mostly passionate about the potential of creating novel types of devices to either be integrated into existing conventional technology or eventually replace it. This does not only improve the technology we encounter daily, but also has a great impact on economy.”
