Hilmi Othman

PhD Researcher

Hilmi received his Master’s degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (2014) from University of Sheffield.  Commencing in 2019, Hilmi is pursuing his PhD at The Tyndall National Institute, working in the Photonic System group under supervision of Prof. Paul Townsend and Giuseppe Talli.
The focus of his research is to develop a new type of low cost coherent transceiver using a novel approach based on receiver-side coherent spectral slicing. This research studies the new type of coherent optical transmission technology specifically designed to solve an emerging bandwidth bottleneck in access network.
