Hilmi received his PhD degree (2024) at Tyndall National Institute, under supervision of Prof. Paul Townsend, where he worked on low-cost coherent transceiver using a novel approach based on receiver-side coherent spectral slicing for future optical access networks. Prior to his PhD, he worked as photonics researcher in optical telecommunication at Telekom Malaysia.
Currently, he continues to work in the Photonics Systems group under mentorship of Prof. Paul Townsend, focusing on the digital coherent technology for high-speed optical communication, specifically for next-generation passive optical network.
