In November 2020 Shengtai joined the Integrated Photonics Group under the supervision of Prof. Frank Peters. Shengtai’s work is focused on developing high speed photonic devices as well as integration using micro transfer printing technology. His PhD is funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) under the Center for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Photonic Integration and Center for Data Storage (PIADS), bringing together training and collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Glasgow.
Shengtai received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and then earned his MSc in microelectronics at TU Delft in 2017. Subsequently, he worked as a research engineer at Institute of Photonic Science in Barcelona for 2 years on novel photodetector technology based on graphene and quantum dot.
