IPIC works with industry partners across the SME and MNC spectrum, developing market leading partnerships that deliver next generation technology. Since IPIC`s initiation we have successfully completed more than 70 industry collaborations, representing an investment of more the €5M by our industry partners.

Central to the delivery of commercial impact to our industry partners is the development, protection and transfer of novel market ready intellectual property. In partnership with Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs), IPIC has completed 25 licenses, transferred more than 10 patented technology solutions and provided 100`s of prototypes since our launch in 2013. Technology and knowledge transfer is also enabled through the recruitment of IPIC trainees by companies, representing over 60% of trainees, with destination companies including Intel, Seagate, and Rockley Photonics.

The partnerships are enhanced through our Researchers in Residence programme, where industry partner scientists and engineers are based within the Centre. This enables daily interactions, access to equipment, upskilling of industry staff and maximises knowledge transfer. Examples include Integer, Intel and X-Celeprint. Furthermore, we are currently strengthening our advanced manufacturing capability to enable the seamless transition of our technologies from the laboratory to the factory. This is supported by the Irish government’s Disruptive Technology Innovation Fund and the recently announced Photonics Manufacturing Pilot Line in partnership with Ficontec, mBryonics, Eblana Photonics, Sanmina Ireland and Faztech.

We are open to working with new industry partners through our dynamic industry engagement model. This includes wholly industry funded projects to co-funded projects enabled through funding from Science Foundation Ireland, with a range of IP access rights.
